Warranty and Support
Summary : It won’t do as much as the more expensive robotic vacuum cleaners, but for $235.00, we think it’s a steal. There isn’t as much hardware, but the software from Moneual more than makes up for it. You get a mopper, too.
The Moneual MR6550 is not a high-end machine. In the world of robotic vacuum cleaners, that’s almost as cheap as you can get.
But despite the base model being simple, the MR6550 is a safe bet because of the company behind it. Moneual puts a lot of thought and effort into the technology driving its vacuums. Sometimes, that’s more important than what’s actually on the unit itself.
Below, we’ll go over what that technology is, and we’ll list all of the features of the MR6550 so you know exactly what you’re getting.
What makes the MR6550 unique?
Let’s start with the engine.
The engine is arguably the most important piece of any vacuum cleaner – it can look as sleek as you want, but if the power isn’t there, it’s a piece of junk.
The MR6550 definitely has the power you need. It runs with a BLDC motor. BLDC motors output 20% to 30% more power than ordinary DC motors. And surprisingly, even some of the more expensive vacuums have ordinary DC motors.
With this motor also comes an increased lifespan. With a regular DC motor, you’ll get about 500 hours of run time before it or the battery has to be replaced. BLDC motors run for 10x as long – 5,000 hours. This means that the MR6550 will last you for years down the line, and it won’t clunk out right after the warranty expires like other machines will.
Moving onto the filter…
The vast majority of robotic vacuum cleaners have only have a single filter. Yes, that single filter is usually a pretty decent one… but even the best filters will always miss something.
Consider a regular strainer for a second, like one that you’d use for straining rice. Even if you have the best strainer in the world, one or two pieces of rice are probably going to fall through it.
But if you had another second strainer below that one, you’d catch all of the rice. No ifs, ands, or buts. Heck, even if 5-10 strands of rice fell through, you’d still catch them.
The Moneual MR6550 uses the same thinking with its filter system. Instead of just having one filter, it has a multi-layered one, which means that all dust, hair, and dirt is trapped… and not just most of it. Other robotic vacuum cleaners with single filters will spray a certain amount of debris back into the air of your home, which, obviously, you’re trying to avoid.
The five different cleaning modes…
No two homes are alike. Trying to design a robotic vacuum that can handle every single type of home with a single mode is a fruitless endeavour.
That’s why the Moneual MR6550 has five cleaning modes. No matter what you need the unit to do, it can be accomplished with one of the five below.
- Automatic clean – the Moneual MR6550 will use its built in artificial intelligence to clean your house in the way it determines to be the most effective
- Concentrated clean – you can pinpoint a certain area of your floor, and the Moneual MR6550 will go in circles around this area until 100% of debris is removed
- Manual clean – using the remote control, you can point to various spots in your house and the unit will only focus on those specific areas
- Corner clean – the Moneual MR6550 works along your walls to make sure all of the dust mites and other debris in that area is completely gone
- Reserved clean – this is the scheduling mode, meaning you pick a certain time for the unit to get to work, and when that time comes around, it starts cleaning using “Automatic clean”
And finally, the “shadow cleaning” feature.
Most (if not all) robotic cleaners rely on light to operate – most can’t clean when a room is dark. Even if the room is bright, some will struggle under large piece of furniture if it’s big enough to blot out all sunlight underneath it.
Thanks to the “shadow cleaning” feature, your Moneual MR6550 will never get stuck under a piece of furniture. If it detects that something is wrong, it’ll bring itself out of the darkness and readjust.
Also, because the unit can detect which areas of your room are darker, it can pay special attention to them. This is incredibly useful for cleaning under furniture – often, dust accumulates under there, and one pass just won’t cut it.
Dry mops after it vacuums, too
It gets better – not only does the Moneual MR6550 vacuum, but it also mops.
It’s a dry mop, which means that you don’t need to buy a new pad every time you want to do a run. Instead, there’s a container for you to put water in. The unit will automatically detect the moisture level of the mop, and if it’s low, the unit will spritz a little bit of water onto it.
The mopping cleans further, eradicating the straggler pieces of dust, and it also makes your hardwood floors look shiny. It’s like a cleaning crew just came through.
And we know what you’re thinking – don’t worry about your rugs. The Moneual MR6550 can detect what type of floor it’s on, and if it detects rug, it won’t use the dry mop.
Is the Moneual MR6550 worth the purchase?
It won’t do as much as the more expensive robotic vacuum cleaners. There isn’t as much hardware, but the software from Moneual more than makes up for it. You get a mopper, too.
Don’t just take our word for it – see if others who already own the unit agree with us. They do. You can click here to read all of the reviews. Some customers even left video reviews, meaning you can actually see the unit in action before deciding whether to buy or not.
