There are those of you out there who want to have 100% immaculate homes all of time time. Homes so immaculate that you could eat your dinner off of the floors.
However, there are also those of you who are just looking for a “pretty clean” home 100% of the time without shelling out too much cash – if this sounds like you, then you’re going to want to take a look at the iTouchless Robotic Intelligent Vacuum Cleaner PRO.
Where other companies are charging close to four figures for the privilege of owning a robotic vacuum cleaner, iTouchless continues to undercut them with prices similar to what you’d spend on a nice meal out.
Is it the best? No. Is it the cheapest? Absolutely. It’s up to you to decide whether or not the cheap price is worth it – we’ll break down all of its features below, and at the end, you can make the decision to either buy or move up to a more advanced cleaner.
Let’s get started.
The basics – what it does well
Think about what you’d like to get out of your robotic vacuum cleaner. Then, take a look at all of the broad features below to determine whether or not it meets the cut.
Doesn’t hit walls
Some robotic vacuum cleaners – even the more expensive ones – will run into stuff. It’s inevitable – their “training” is done by trial and error.
This isn’t the end of the world, but at the same time, it’s annoying to listen to, and it may scuff up your furniture. The iTouchless PRO doesn’t hit walls because of its proprietary laser scanning technology. Basically, you can let this thing run, and it will clean without disrupting the “zen” of your home.
Does traverse rugs easily
Some users recommend picking up rugs beforehand, and if you do that, then the iTouchless PRO will run flawlessly. However, if you forget once or twice, it’s not the end of the world – the unit is meant to traverse rugs under 1” in width without batting an eye.
Adequate suction for the visible grime
Some of you may suffer from indoor allergies due to dust mites and the such. If you do, then the iTouchless PRO won’t solve your problems – you’ll need a high-end robotic vacuum cleaner with a HEPA filter to remove 100% of the dust. (We recommend the Roomba 880.)
But for those of you who aren’t sensitive and just want your home to look good, you can feel safe with this unit. It won’t remove 100% of dust, but it’ll go to town on the dirt, and once it’s done, it’ll look like a human (or even a professional maid) vacuumed your floors.
Makes hardwood floors pristine
Your hardwood floors are the most important part of your living space. Everyone expects rugs to accumulate some dust and dirt, but hardwood floors should be perfect all of the time… if they’re not, it really shows.
The iTouchless PRO will make hardwood floors look brand new. It combines suction with an advanced brush to not just vacuum up, but also dislodge dirt and grime.
The bad – what it doesn’t do well
With a $130 price point, there are going to be a few downsides. Here they are – considering its price, we don’t think that these are too bad.
You have to “train” it
The first time your iTouchless PRO runs, it’ll likely get stuck or tangled on objects around your home. For the first couple of runs, you’ll have to babysit it and manually pick it up if it gets stuck.
However, once you get a few cleans under your belt, the unit will operate entirely on its own. You can just press the button and let it go to work. (If you reorganize your furniture, you may have to “retrain” it, but that doesn’t take too much time.)
Some say it doesn’t work with rugs, BUT…
…others say it navigates them flawlessly. It really depends on the type of rug you have.
If you went to TJ Maxx and bought a cheap run, then you’re fine. The iTouchless PRO will be able to run up and down it without a problem.
On the other hand… if you have an oriental rug that costs as much as six car payments, then the unit might not be able to handle it. Measure your rugs to see if they’re more than 1” thick – if they are, simply move them out of the way while the unit runs.
Support isn’t entirely helpful
iTouchless does have support, but it’s not the best in the industry. So if you have to call for assistance, it may take a while to get connected to an operator, and from there, it might take a few minutes for you to get your answer.
It’s a bit of a hassle, but it’s not the end of the world. When you pay for more expensive robot vacuums, you’re also paying into the support. The cheap price means lesser support, but if you’re tech savvy and able to figure out problems on your own, then you might not even need it.
iTouchless PRO Review Summary
We’ll break this entire review down into five simple bullet points.
- The unit costs a fraction of the price of other robotic vacuum cleaners
- It’s able to clean hardwood floor perfectly, and it can clean rugs as long as they’re less than 1” off of the ground
- You will have to babysit the unit for its first couple of runs
- Support isn’t the best, but at that price, you get what you pay for
- Overall, this is a unit that will make your house look “pretty darn good”, but it won’t completely eradicate all dust like the more expensive robot vacuum cleaners with HEPA filters do
So get this model if you’re looking for a cheap and reliable robot vacuum cleaner… if you need one with all of the bells and whistles possible, check out the Roomba 880.
